Poker player Jake Cody risked his entire poker tournament winnings, totaling £42,760, on the spin of a roulette wheel.
Jake had been won the huge sum through playing a live poker tournament at one of the most popular live poker venues, Dusk Till Dawn in Nottingham.
He had been playing in the 2018 partypoker UK Poker Champsionship’s £2,200 High Roller event, where he scooped the top prize.
But the £42,760 wasn’t enough for Jake.
He managed to agree with the owner of the casino to place all his winnings on black in roulette. This gave him less than a 50% chance of doubling up, a risk a poker player shouldn’t usually take.
The video below shows what happened:
As can be seen from the video, it was Jake’s lucky day. In front of many onlookers watching in anticipation, the room broke out in celebration when the roulette wheel stopped on black and Jake doubled his £42,760 winnings to £85,520!
Who is Jake Cody?
As you might expect, most people wouldn’t be so quick to risk a £42,760 windfall in poker. Jake Cody is actually a professional poker player, and part of the PokerStars Pro Team.
This wasn’t the first time Jake Cody has won big in poker. In fact it was one of his smaller wins in comparison to the $1,213,194 he won in the EPT Deauville €5,000 No Limit Hold’em Main Event in 2010. In total Jake Cody has won over $3,000,000 through playing poker.
